Services & Prices

Woodlake Public Cemetery serves as the resting place for residents in Woodlake and the surrounding rural areas. Visit our services and prices page, stop by the office during office hours, or call to make an appointment to discuss current or future burial needs.

Board Seat Vacancy

The Woodlake Public Cemetery Board of Directors voted to increase the number of board seats from 3 directors to 5 directors. The County of Tulare Board of Supervisors officially approved the seat increase in August 2023. We currently have one vacant seat. If you are interested in filling that seat, please email the District Manager for an application.

Flower & Memorial Policy

The Board of Directors adopted a Flower & Memorial Policy in June 2022, providing guidelines for the amount and type of items that are allowed on headstones. Please thoroughly read the guidelines to help assure your items are not removed.

The Board of Directors will be voting on a revised Flower & Memorial Policy at the May 6 Board meeting. The public is welcome to attend and provide public comment.

How You Can Help With Cemetery Improvements

We are always asked by community members how to help with the current improvements around the Woodlake Public Cemetery grounds. Here are a few ways to help us restore the beauty of our community’s cemetery:

Follow the Flower & Memorial Policy – To aid in the ongoing maintenance (weed eating and mowing), please remove items from and around your loved ones’ headstone, and ensure the number of items are in compliance with the Flower & Memorial Policy. Other cemeteries remove ALL items each week, and we are trying to avoid getting to that point.

No Weed Eating – For your own protection, please do not weed eat around your loved ones’ graves. And please do not dig around the edge of the headstone. Removing the grass and soil from the edge will increase the chances of the headstone sinking.

DO NOT SPRAY HERBICIDES! – Please do not spray Round-Up or other herbicides on your loved ones’ graves. Please do not kill our grass and the grass on your loved one’s grave.

Pick Up Trash – Fake flower petals, sun-damaged items left on graves, water bottles, cans and glass bottles, plates, utensils, ketchup packets, masks, diapers, and other items are often blown around the cemetery. Please pick up after yourself and others.

Bring a Rake – If you’d like to do more around the cemetery, feel free to bring a rake and rake up leaves or pine needles, especially as we are coming into Fall and Winter. Our Groundskeeper will come by and pick up the piles!
